Standing to be our candidate for Doncaster Central.
I care about the people of Doncaster. I’m proud to have served our residents for nearly a decade as a Councillor. I am the founder of a local food bank, a trustee of a prominent anti-poverty charity, a board member of an international healthcare charity and a patron of a charity that helps families affected by alcohol and substance abuse.
I work every day to support people who are at the sharp end of the cost-of-living crisis created by this Tory government.
The Tories will throw everything at Doncaster Central in the next general election. We lost Don Valley – and Doncaster Central’s lead has been significantly reduced. It is more important than ever that we have a candidate who can support ambitious plans with a strong track record of delivery for local communities.
I stepped up to fight for a Tory safe seat in 2019 to give me the experience needed to run a tough parliamentary campaign. I am extremely well recognised locally and have been re-elected three times in a traditionally Tory marginal seat. The current majority in Doncaster Central is just 2,278.
With your help and support, I will be the candidate to win and deliver for Doncaster.
Proud to be Endorsed By:
I am grateful to all the residents, members, branches, community groups, businesses and trade unions for your help and continued support. Thank you for entrusting me, I do not take your support for granted. I promise to fight for our villages, neighbourhoods and communities. I will deliver the change we need locally, regionally and nationally.

Cost of Living Crisis
With unaffordable gas and electricity bills, people are having to choose between heating and eating.
I am a founding member of Doncaster Community Development. As a grassroots charity, we provide food and support to the homeless across Doncaster. It saddens me that more and more regular, hardworking families are now coming to us to make ends meet. This is not acceptable, and you have my word that I’ll fight for every constituent as our MP.

Fighting Crime
Fighting Crime
I’ve seen policing budgets slashed. I’ve had to bring the Police and Council together to ease community concerns, ensuring the spate of burglaries and shootings in Doncaster was addressed. With a Labour government, we can tackle the underlying causes of crime caused by years of Conservative cuts.

Covid-19 Vaccine Clinics
By working with our NHS, I organised Covid-19 vaccination clinics to provide healthcare to those who would otherwise go without, as well as to ensure that the most vulnerable and difficult to reach people were vaccinated. Following the success of these clinics, this was expanded into a full-fledged programme. We have now delivered 38 clinics, protecting people across Doncaster. I promise that I will fight for proper funding and protect our NHS.

Supporting Our Veterans
I have worked hard for many years to support our armed forces. Veterans are amongst the most vulnerable in society and the Tory government has pushed many into poverty and suicide.

Fixing Public Transport
As Chair of Regeneration and Housing, I understand the challenges we face with public transport. I will work with Oliver Coppard our Regional Mayor to give Doncaster the public transport we deserve.

Chair of the Cantley and Bessacarr Labour Party
#ISTANDWITHMAJID
#ISTANDWITHMAJID
Why I am backing Majid to be the next Member of Parliament for Doncaster Central. Doncaster has just become a city and Rosie has announced that she is retiring so now is the right time for a fresh start for Doncaster and Majid is just the sort of person to be able to lead us into the next parliament. He is not being promoted by local or national politicians and as such he is not beholden to anyone other than the local members.
Majid is an original thinker with fresh ideas and is not afraid to question leaders of the party if he thinks there are better ways to do things. As such he will challenge policies and will work with our leaders to try to make sure we have the best outcomes for ordinary people both locally and nationally.
I have been active in the Labour party in Doncaster since I moved here in 1987 and think that Majid is one of the hardest working local councillors I have met in that time. He is a very capable, enthusiastic, and tireless worker for the people he represents and he will take these characteristics with him to Westminster if he is successful.
If you want an independent Labour MP who will truly represent the people of Doncaster
I urge you to vote for Majid.

Chair of the Cantley and Bessacarr Ward Labour Party
We have seen Doncaster Council’s budget slashed by 50%, having to deliver more with less. The Labour administration I’m proudly part of has been the last defence for people of Doncaster against Tory inflicted austerity.
To deliver locally we must deliver nationally. We need a candidate who understands local government and Doncaster, who can be an effective advocate for Doncaster in Westminster.
I’ve heard it many times that Westminster politicians are out of touch. We need a candidate like me with real first-hand experience of Doncaster.
In 2019 I was the Parliamentary Candidate in the Tory safe seat of Brigg and Goole. I led from the front, by building a strong local labour team, motivated members and engaged disenfranchised members and voters. We mobilised community groups, and trade union colleagues and showed the residents that Labour is here for them.
The Challenge Ahead
At the next general election, the Conservatives will be throwing everything at Doncaster Central. The Tories are snapping at our heels, we lost Don Valley and Doncaster Central’s lead has been significantly reduced. We need a candidate that has a strong local track record of delivery for all communities, someone who understands the pain people are facing on a daily basis.
A Fight We Will Win
I am well recognised locally and have a track record in winning. I have been re-elected three times in a marginal seat, with the current majority in Doncaster at just 2,278. I am the candidate with the experience to win and deliver for Doncaster.

I stand with Majid having worked with him at grassroots level for 8 years. Majid is a committed, caring Councillor who believes in good Labour values. He works tirelessly to represent all. Majid gives more than 100% to achieve his aims and deliver Labour values for the people of Doncaster.

Chair of Children and Young People Committee
Majid is an experienced Councillor and former Civic Mayor of Doncaster. A fully committed family man, with a strong sense of community.
As Chair of Regeneration and Housing, he understands what Doncaster needs.
I have seen first-hand Majid’s dedication to Doncaster. I stand with Majid!

Doncaster Labour Group Chief Whip and Chair of Licensing
Majid has won his marginal Cllr seat, time after time. You don’t do that without excellent campaigning skills. You certainly don’t keep getting re-elected without understanding the needs of communities and delivering for them. This is why I’m endorsing Majid’s campaign to become the Labour Party parliamentary candidate for Doncaster Central.

Retired Soldier
Majid supports our armed forces, he comes down to me, we go onto the camp and we talk to the people and he’s just a normal bloke and that’s what I like about him.
He understands the problems that soldiers face, and that’s why he’s able to get to the heart of the issues that we face both in service and civilian life.

Former Civic Mayor of Doncaster
Majid has the ability to bring people and services together and do what’s good for Doncaster. He set up a Covid vaccination scheme which has now been rolled out across Doncaster, and because of this Doncaster is the go-to authority on vaccinations. Majid delivers!

Founder and Director My Network for Women
My Network for Women is dedicated to empowering and supporting women in business. Majid has been working with ,and supporting us since 2015. Majid will be a brilliant representative for Doncaster in Westminster.

Local Resident and Business Owner
I was born in Doncaster and have been a Labour supporter my whole life. I’ve seen many candidates come and go – and Majid is the real deal. I’ve seen him out and about meeting and working with residents more times than I can count.
He works harder for local people than anyone, and he would be a great representative for us in London.

Chair of Doncaster Labour Group and Deputy Chair of Council
Working alongside Majid for the past five years I have found him to be thorough and thoughtful when considering policy, warm and welcoming when working with people and on matters of principle, his character is unimpeachable. Majid has already done Doncaster proud as Councillor and Civic Mayor and I have every confidence he would be an undeniable asset to our city as a voice in Parliament.

Neighbourhood Centre Manager and founding member
“Majid is already doing the work that we expect of our MPs. As our MP, he could do so much more for Doncaster.”
The Neighbourhood Centre is a non-profit charity, foodbank and community cafe providing clothing and household essentials to those in need.

Retired Firefighter & FBU Yorkshire & Humber Chair
“Majid was with us fighting to stop cuts to fire services across the region.”
Neil is a well-known and respected firefighter. Over the years he has been instrumental in ensuring that residents and firefighters are kept safe by campaigning for correct staffing levels and the correct number and type of fire engines.

Chairman of Besscarr FC
“He helped us source food for local residents that were struggling during the pandemic. I stand with Majid for the work he has done personally for residents of Doncaster.”
Bessacarr football club is a FA Charter football club, the only one in Doncaster to have achieved this. Currently, there are 450 junior players, 80 adults and 39 teams.
